A stunning improvement on the classic Bluebell Creeper, Billardiera heterophylla ‘Ultra Blue’ (Syn. Sollya heterophylla ‘Ultra Blue’) is prized for its intense, inky-blue blooms. From early summer through to September, this twining evergreen climber is draped in graceful, nodding, bell-shaped flowers that are significantly darker than the species. These are often followed by attractive, cylindrical purple-blue berries.
With a denser, more branching habit than its parent, it is perfect for training over an obelisk in a patio pot or brightening a conservatory. As a half-hardy plant, it benefits from frost protection in colder regions.
June-September Flowering. Thrives in a sunny, sheltered spot, in moist, well-drained soil. Height & spread: 2m x 0.6m (6′ 6″ x 2′).
