The familiar coin-shaped leaves of the Chinese Money Plant, but splashed and speckled with creamy-white variegation. Pilea peperomioides ‘Mojito’ produces the same neat, round foliage on upright stems as the standard form, but each leaf carries irregular patches, sectors, and splashes of cream and white against the green. The variegation is unstable and unpredictable, so no two leaves match. It stays compact and upright, producing offsets (pups) from the base that can be separated and shared. Easy to care for and just as cheerful as the green form, with added visual interest.
Origins
Pilea peperomioides is native to the Yunnan province of China, where it grows on shaded, rocky slopes. ‘Mojito’ is a cultivar selected for its scattered cream and white leaf variegation.
