Phyllostachys aureosulcata ‘Spectabilis’ is a striking, upright yellow-groove bamboo valued for tall, elegant screening and year-round structure. Its bright yellow canes with contrasting green grooves and slender green leaves create a bold architectural effect. Fast-growing and forming a clump that slowly spreads with age, it typically reaches around 6m in height and approximately 34m in width over time. Best in sun or light shade, in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Like many running bamboos, it can spread; install a suitable root/rhizome barrier where containment is required.
