A legendary and exceptionally tough border classic, Penstemon ‘Andenken an Friedrich Hahn’ is universally admired for its unrivaled flowering window and deep, jewel-toned colour.
From June right through to the hard frosts of November, it produces a relentless succession of elegant, arching spires packed with narrow, trumpet-shaped flowers in a rich shade of deep wine-red to garnet-purple.
These velvety blooms feature a subtly striped throat and rise above a handsome, bushy mound of narrow, willow-like dark green foliage. An RHS Award of Garden Merit winner, this variety is famously one of the hardiest penstemons available, making it an absolute favourite for sunny borders, cottage gardens, and coastal schemes. It is highly drought-tolerant once established and acts as a major nectar station for bumblebees.
