Notable Wildlife Interactions: Flowers attract bumblebees, large butterflies, and hummingbirds. Hosts the honey locust and bisected honey locust moths.
Notes: Most trees have either male or female flowers, but some have both. Has a slowly suckering habit so tends to grow in colonies in the wild. Seeds were once ground and roasted to produce a coffee-like drink, hence the common name.
