Cytisus ‘Lena’ 40-60 cm.
Cytisus Lena is a compact, fast-growing deciduous broom valued for its profusion of warm, bicolour pea-flowers in late spring, typically red with yellow tones. Forming a low, bushy mound with slender green shoots, it thrives in full sun and very well-drained, poor to moderately fertile, preferably sandy soils, and dislikes chalk or heavy clay. Ideal for sunny, free-draining borders or gravel gardens in Ireland, it generally reaches about 1m in height and spread. Lightly trim immediately after flowering to maintain shape, avoiding hard pruning into old wood.
